eFoster Parent Program
What is the eFoster Parent Program?
We believe it’s possible to change the trajectory of a child’s life by offering consistent love and support, which is why our eFoster Parent Sponsorship Program is the heart of our organization. We match each of our caring sponsors (“eFoster Parents”) with a child for a special, one-to-one relationship that consists of at least one email exchange per month, and a $500 donation each year.
By becoming an eFoster Parent, you can transform a child’s future for the better.
Why Cambodia?
In the late 1970s, Cambodia was the site of one of the worst genocides in history, with roughly one quarter of its population perishing and its government and society left in tatters.
As part of its campaign in Vietnam, the U.S. began carpet-bombing Cambodia in 1969, exacerbating internal conflict and destabilizing the region. In 1975, the Khmer Rouge Regime and its leader, Pol Pot, seized control of the country and pushed Cambodia towards a radical vision of communism. In an effort to “cleanse” the population, the educated middle-class in the cities were split from their families, marched to villages in the countryside, and forced to work in labor camps. Hundreds of thousands were tortured and executed, and many more died of starvation. By 1979, the regime had taken over 1.5 million lives, or roughly a quarter of the population.
Though decades have passed since the Khmer Rouge, its devastating impact can still be felt today in the lives of Cambodia’s children.

In Cambodia, 1 out of every 6 children lives in extreme poverty, without access to an education, consistent meals, or even a safe place to sleep.
This economic hardship creates a cycle in which these children are unable to lift themselves out of poverty, due to the intense demands of simply surviving each day.
Here’s how we make a difference.
